Like most marine organisms, sea cucumbers greatest future threats include climate change and anthropogenic induced disturbances. Climate change poses a major future threat to all marine organisms due to the rate of change to an environment that has been relatively stable through recent evolutionary time.
E. godeffroyi has been relatively understudied in the literature, thus future threats and the ways in which the species will be able to cope with climate change are largely unknown.
